Take Mom out to the Sarasota Opera this weekend.
Celebrate Mother’s Day by taking Mom to see the Sarasota Youth Opera perform The Black Spider this weekend. Sarasota Opera makes it easy to understand opera by posting the lyrics and captions above the stage as well as gearing the music and language to help you understand and appreciate the beauty, fun, and drama of opera.
The Black Spider is a show for the entire family. This comic thriller weaves the story of a venomous spider that terrorizes 15th-centry Poland together with a modern day story of archeologists who were stricken with a mysterious illness after excavating the tomb of Casimir IV in Cracow, Poland.
The production will be performed by our talented Youth Opera members, conducted by Sarasota Youth Opera Music Director Lance Inouye, and directed by Martha Collins.
Performances are May 7 at 7:30 pm and May 8 at 1:30 pm. Tickets are just $20 for adults, $15 for students, and $50 for a Family Pack for 2 adults and up to 4 students (when ordering Family Pack online, use promotion code: FamPack2010).
Call the Box Office at (941) 366-8450, ext. 1 or sarasota.org.
